Meet the Neopets Metaverse Team: Mon — Game Art Lead
Q: Can you introduce yourself to the community? Tell us about your role and what you do.
Hello. My name is Mon, the Game Art Lead of Neopets Metaverse. My duties include spearheading the art direction and ensuring that the project’s concept art development is on point.
Q: Can you tell us about your background and what brought you to Neopets?
I’ve been working in digital entertainment for over 25 years. I used to work as an art director for 3D animated feature films like TMNT and Astro boy. I’ve directed over 200 animated shorts and video games already. I’m always down for new experiences when it comes to digital entertainment. Nowadays, Web3 is the way into the future, and NPM is a window of opportunity. That’s why I’m eager to be a part of it. This is history in the making!
Q: What do you find exciting about the Metaverse?
While there’s a mountain of things to be excited about the Metaverse, I’m particularly interested in the fact that we can own, share, buy, and sell assets safely without third-party involvement. The world is becoming bigger than I’ve ever imagined. This presents a healthy market for a digital NFT artist like myself, which is a good thing.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most at Neopets Metaverse?
Despite working in the shadows, I’m actually looking forward to a more interactive community at NPM. There are many ways to enjoy the game, such as trading, visiting, and interacting with each other so that making new friends is more accessible and convenient.
Q: What advice would you give to someone that would be interested in working in the metaverse?
Be open-minded. With the digital world changing faster than ever, you have to embrace different ideas and continue cultivating new concepts. If you’re in the creative industry, keep up to date with technological advances too since they can help improve your art by a mile.
Q: What’s your favorite video game of all time?
My favorite one is a console game called “Sniper Contract”. Playing it feels kind of similar to my daily work, where I spot something and solve it like a true sniper!
Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
Certainly a cat person! I like to draw cats as well in my spare time. The funny thing is, I like them, but I can’t bring myself to adopt one for some reason.
Q: Neopets Metaverse is a global project with a multinational team; tell us where you’re from and what part of the globe are you in?
I was born and raised in Hong Kong.
