Meet the Neopets Metaverse Team: Helen— Product Manager
Q: Could you please introduce yourself to the community? Tell us about your role and what you do?
Heya! It’s me, Helen, the Product Manager for Neopets Metaverse. My job typically involves user research, UX design, and workflow management to ensure that we provide the best gaming experience for our beloved players.
Q: Can you tell us about your background and what brought you to Neopets?
Cutting right to the chase, I have considerable experience in the gaming and edutainment industry, specializing in product design and management for kids or kidults. I joined Neopets Metaverse in Jan 2022. With Neopets being a classic and well-known brand, I’m looking forward to bringing a fresh experience to our users.
Q: What do you find exciting about the Metaverse?
I’m honestly somewhat new to Web 3. However, the more I learn about it, the more I appreciate its potential to unlock a more valuable internet for everyone.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most at Neopets Metaverse?
The Neohome! It’s a nifty feature where you can collect furniture, wallpapers, and other items to decorate your in-game house with. On top of that, you can also interact with Neopets at the Neohome. I can’t wait to design my space and show it to my friends. Spoiler alert: we have a couple of special furniture ready in the next update. Stay tuned!
Q: What advice would you give to someone that would be interested in working in the metaverse?
Be a quick learner in this fast-growing industry. More importantly, be humble and patient with the users’ opinions.
Q: What’s your favorite video game of all time?
It’s hard to pick one so I’ll give you my Top 5 instead! (In no particular order):
- Persona 5 (gorgeous and vibrant world, impressive character, and UI design)
- 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (a masterpiece in visual, music, gameplay, and story)
- Sky: Children of the Light (beautiful art style and amazing social mechanics)
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (really relax me during Covid-19 pandemic)
- Word game by Team9 (super creative gameplay based on the formation rule of Chinese characters)
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
Besides playing video games in my free time, I also enjoy:
- Strolling around the city
- Immersing myself in Hong Kong popular culture (movies, dramas, Cantopop, etc.)
- Indulging in anime and stand-up comedy
Q: Neopets Metaverse is a global project with a multinational team, tell us where you’re from and what part of the globe are you in?
I’m based in Shanghai.
