Meet the Neopets Metaverse Team: Ernest— Digital Marketing Director
Q: Could you please introduce yourself to the community? Tell us about your role and what you do?
Hi everyone. My name is Ernest, and I’m the Digital Marketing Director of Neopets Metaverse. To put it simply, I’m in charge of all digital marketing projects, ensuring our campaigns run efficiently in terms of meeting various metrics and sending the right message to our audience.
Q: Can you tell us about your background and what brought you to Neopets?
Since finishing my MSC in Marketing, I have had several stints with various fintech companies around the globe. This prepared me for my biggest break when I joined Neopets Metaverse in 2022. Why Neopets? Let’s say it’s destiny! Neopets was one of my favourite games growing up, and I can still vividly remember my old Shoryu and Kougra friends. I feel super excited to meet them again Metaverse!
Q: What do you find exciting about the Metaverse?
It’s boundless potential! Typically, we need to exchange foreign currencies when we travel or purchase from online shops. Fortunately, we can save transaction time and costs in the Metaverse. Not to mention the added security of decentralization. I’m looking forward to traveling to a multitude of destinations in the Metaverse someday!
Q: What are you looking forward to most here at Neopets Metaverse?
It is my greatest pleasure to witness the growth of Neopets Metaverse, but since that won’t magically happen overnight, my sights are on the upcoming Beta launch. More importantly, I’m glad to be able to work with a talented team, cooperate with an enthusiastic community, and freely share my thoughts about the players’ perspectives.
Q: What advice would you give to someone that would be interested in working in the metaverse?
Go N-E-O. Hah, I made this one! First, N stands for New. You will learn new things every day, so be willing to be taught. E stands for engagement. You need to put 120% effort into this. Web 3 is a fast-paced industry, so be prepared to work outside regular office hours. I even do tasks at midnight sometimes! Lastly, O stands for open-mindedness. Traditional strategies from previous companies may not work here. You have to learn to adapt to an entirely new environment. That said, as long as you stay flexible, you will thrive in the space.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
Hanging out with friends, watching movies, reading, playing video games and playing table tennis.
Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
Why not both? I love both of them.
Q: Neopets Metaverse is a global project with a multinational team, tell us where you’re from and what part of the globe are you in?
I was born and raised in Hong Kong. Still in Hong Kong now!
