Meet the Neopets Metaverse Team: Athena — Senior Game Project Manager
Q: Can you introduce yourself to the community? Tell us about your role and what you do.
Hey! It’s me, Athena. Nope, I’m not the Goddess of War, but I’m the project manager of the development team for Neopets Metaverse. If you’re wondering, my job is to ensure that key performance indicators are met on time, on budget, and within the desired scope.
Q: Can you tell us about your background and what brought you to Neopets?
I initially started my career as a multimedia designer. I learned a lot of things and met plenty of amazing people along the way. Over a decade of experience with various projects helped me become a digital product manager, focusing mainly on mobile games and applications. Coming across Neopets was a perfect opportunity for me to relive my childhood memories while growing my skills with a prominent brand.
Q: What do you find exciting about the Metaverse?
Metaverse brings a whole new experience to interpersonal communication. It allows people to freely utilize their creativity, innovate, and express emotions virtually. Couple that with the capability to handle your digital assets safely and anonymously, and you’ve got a groundbreaking recipe that will dictate the future. It’s pretty interesting to witness how the chemistry between Crypto, NFTs, and games pan out in the long run.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most at Neopets Metaverse?
PvP battles! I can’t wait for our players to test their skills, compete with other great players, and strategize their game plans and tactics. It’s going to be a battle of wits and strength! That is why the Neopets Metaverse team is working hard to provide a fund and balanced PvP experience for everyone.
Q: What advice would you give to someone that would be interested in working in the metaverse?
Be open to learning new skills and ideas. With Web3 constantly evolving every single day, you should be proactive, curious, communicative, and knowledgeable.
Q: What’s your favorite video game of all time?
Bomberman will always have a special place in my heart.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
I love to read. I can’t get over the feeling of blocking out the noise and being immersed in the world and thoughts of what I’m reading.
Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
Dogs’ personalities are great, but cats are just the cutest, most chill, cuddliest, best pets ever.
Q: Neopets Metaverse is a global project with a multinational team; tell us where you’re from and what part of the globe are you in?
I’m from Hong Kong and my native language is Cantonese.
