Meet the Neopets Metaverse Team: Anthony Conley — Art Advisor
Many in our community are curious about the brains behind Neopets Metaverse — and rightfully so! Our team works every day, putting incredible effort into bringing the Neopets Metaverse vision to life, we are incredibly excited to be kickstarting the #MeettheTeam Series and setting up a personal interview with Anthony Conley. Anthony has a deep and impactful history with the Neopets brand, and we are excited to share his story today!
Q: Could you please introduce yourself to the community?
Hello Neopians! my name is Anthony Conley. I’m an artist and illustrator with a long history in creative development for Kids and Family entertainment. I love character design and making cool stuff with creative people.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your personal history and what brought you to Neopets?
I started my professional art career in 2000 working for Neopets.com as their lead artist where I designed a majority of the Neopets species, Petpets, Faeries, and plot characters. I eventually took on the role of art director, leading a team of 25 artists. A favorite memory of mine is when our art team would travel worldwide, hosting huge events to promote Neopets. We greeted NP fans who queued for hours to request sketches of their favorite Neopets characters and drew them on the spot! Another highlight was when the Neopets Team helped develop the artwork for the Sony PlayStation game, The Darkest Faerie. We designed many great, legacy characters and the game was a huge success.
Q: Could you tell us more about your role here at Neopets Metaverse?
I am joining the Neopets Metaverse Team as an Advisor, providing creative feedback on the storytelling and giving helpful direction on artwork and illustrations. I will also be creating character art and illustrations, which is my favorite part of what I get to do!
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I’m originally from Los Angeles, California but currently reside in Paris France with my wife and daughter where I’m a full-time creative development artist and Illustrator. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, cooking, and playing hours and hours of Classic Tetris/Dr.Mario.
Q: What are you looking forward to most here at Neopets Metaverse?
I’m most looking forward to contributing my knowledge of the world of Neopets with the Neopets Metaverse Team and helping usher in the authenticity of classic Neopets to the Web 3 version of the game!
